When photographing children I am always a bit ambivalent. Often they are great subjects because of their unawareness and spontaneity. On the other hand they are still fragile and have little defense against the world around them. But there are ways to still take pictures of them without this ambivalence. Like this great picture that oozes movement, not giving away the identity of the child. The dog that runs along with him only emphasizes his cheerful and careless running around like only a child can do. Every time I see this picture it takes me back to my childhood.
